Counseling for Kids

Kids can often struggle with managing their emotions and behaviors. Some might have anxiety, depression, have had traumatic or terrible events happen in their lives, are navigating through divorce or separation, or lots of other struggles. Additionally, some kids are exploring their gender identities. I primarily use Play Therapy Interventions with my child clients. Play Therapy has shown to help kids work through lots of struggles and improve their strengths. When needed, I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with kids who might have had a traumatic event happen- whether that is children who have been sexually abused, had a scary medical experience, or have had changes in their families (divorce, separation, foster care, etc.).  Learn more about EMDR and Play Therapy.

I also support parents and caregivers by helping them learn new ways to support their children through what they are going through. For instance, we can do some Child-Parent Relationship Therapy to strengthen the bond between parent/caregiver and kiddo.

Here is a great short video about why Play Therapy is so helpful to kids!
